Houston Law Firm Awarded $150M Contract to Represent Migrant Children
The Trump administration has awarded a $150 million contract to Burke Law Group, a Houston-based firm, to provide legal representation for unaccompanied migrant children in government custody. The contract, announced by the Department of Health and Human Services, aims to offer legal orientation and representation during immigration proceedings. This decision follows allegations that the administration withheld $65 million in fees from previous contracts, pressuring legal service providers to disclose confidential information about the children. Burke Law Group, with 26 employees, will now handle these responsibilities, despite concerns about its capacity to manage such a large caseload.
