Cobb County Woman Charged with $25K Walmart Theft Using Fake App
Soni Wells, a resident of Powder Springs, Georgia, has been charged with multiple counts of theft after allegedly stealing over $25,000 worth of merchandise from Walmart stores in Cobb County. According to police, Wells used a fraudulent self-checkout app to scan items and then left the store without paying. The scheme reportedly spanned several months and involved at least 25 separate incidents. Wells is accused of exploiting the 'Scan & Go' app by allowing the payment terminal to time out before leaving with the goods. She is currently held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, facing additional warrants for failing to appear in court for other shoplifting charges.
