New Mexico Congressional Delegation Seeks Answers on Military GPS Jamming Linked to Fatal Crash
Members of New Mexico's congressional delegation are demanding information from federal transportation and defense agencies regarding a fatal plane crash in May, which may have been influenced by military GPS jamming exercises. The crash of a medical transport plane near Ruidoso resulted in four fatalities and ignited a significant wildfire. The National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report indicates that GPS jamming by White Sands Missile Range officials coincided with the crash. U.S. Rep. Gabe Vasquez and U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich have requested details from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. Pilots have long reported GPS jamming issues near White Sands, raising concerns about aviation safety.
