Heavy Rain Persists in the Southwest as Severe Weather Shifts East
Heavy rain and possible flash flooding will continue across the Great Basin and Southwest as lingering tropical moisture and a slow moving cold front fuel downpours. Utah and Arizona face additional flooding concerns, while snow could fall in higher elevations of Nevada, Utah and Maine. By Tuesday and Wednesday, showers and thunderstorms will shift toward the Central and Southern Plains, with some storms potentially becoming severe from Kansas City to Lubbock. Rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is possible from western Missouri to the Texas Big Bend, where excessive rainfall is a concern. Meanwhile, temperatures could climb into the 80s and lower 90s across parts of the Plains and Midwest, while the Intermountain West remains much colder, with highs in the 40s and 50s.
