NatureBest Precut & Produce LLC, a Texas-based company, has voluntarily expanded its recall of products containing jalapeño peppers. These peppers were supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors and are potentially contaminated with salmonella. The affected products, which include pico de gallo, stuffed mushrooms, and soup mixes, were distributed to retail customers in Texas and Louisiana between July 3 and August 5. They were sold under both NatureBest and H-E-B labels. This expanded recall follows a previous recall of jalapeños from Coast Citrus Distributors that has been linked to a multistate salmonella outbreak. The FDA and CDC have identified a common grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, as the likely source of the outbreak, with the peppers imported by Coast Citrus Distributors and distributed to various food service companies and now, grocery stores. Taylor Farms is also recalling products containing jalapeños sold at stores like Kroger and Trader Joe’s in 26 states due to potential salmonella contamination.
