Iran Releases Archival Footage of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Amid Health Speculation
Iran's Fars News agency has released archival footage of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, reportedly filmed before he assumed his current role. This marks the second such video released by Iranian media in August, following an earlier undated video from Mehr News agency. The releases are intended to counter mounting speculation regarding Khamenei's health and whereabouts, which intensified after Israeli media claimed he was in critical condition. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has dismissed these health concerns, stating that Khamenei is 'completely healthy' after a 'very good' meeting with him earlier in August. Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the position of Supreme Leader after his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in joint US-Israeli military strikes on February 28. Since then, he has not made any public appearances, communicating exclusively through written statements.
