18-Year-Old Driver Charged with DWI and Intoxication Manslaughter Following Fatal El Paso Crash
An 18-year-old driver, Jose Angel Hernandez Gallegos, has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle after a fatal crash in northeast El Paso, Texas. The incident occurred on Sunday at 2 a.m. on the 3900 block of Gateway North at the Cassidy exit. Gallegos was reportedly driving a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a signal light. His passenger, 33-year-old Cesar Chavez Guillen, sustained injuries that proved fatal. Gallegos also faces a charge of intoxicated assault with a vehicle. This marks the 37th traffic fatality in El Paso this year, matching the number recorded at the same time last year.
