Gadsden Arts Center Museum Receives NEH Grant for Clyde Butcher Everglades Exhibition
The Gadsden Arts Center & Museum in Quincy has been awarded a $10,000 Environmental Humanities Project Grant by Florida Humanities, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). This grant will fund "America’s Everglades through the Lens of Clyde Butcher," an exhibition showcasing the acclaimed work of landscape photographer Clyde Butcher. The exhibition, set to open on September 25, 2026, will also commemorate the life and legacy of Harry S. Truman, who dedicated the Everglades National Park and expanded the National Parks system. Clyde Butcher, known for his environmental conservation advocacy, received the National Medal of Arts in 2022 and was inducted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame in 1998. The grant is part of Florida Humanities and The Mosaic Company’s Environmental Humanities Program, which supports learning experiences exploring human-environment interactions and celebrating Florida’s diverse landscapes.
