Morning Storms Cause Power Outages in Sarasota and Bradenton
Severe morning storms swept through Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, causing power outages for over 3,000 customers in Sarasota County and more than 200 in Manatee County, according to Florida Power & Light (FP&L). By 2 p.m., fewer than 300 customers remained without power. The storms brought heavy downpours, with forecasters placing the Suncoast region in a zone of potential excessive rain for the next few days. Rain chances are estimated at 70% both along the coast and inland, with some areas receiving over half an inch of rain in a short period. Ponding water on roads and minor flooding in poor drainage areas have been reported.
