Dora Fire Forces Highway 138 Closure Near Lancaster
A fast-moving wildfire, named the Dora Fire, erupted in Los Angeles County near the community of Neenach, west of Lancaster, on Thursday afternoon. The fire was first reported at 3:44 p.m. local time and quickly spread across dry brush, growing to 850 acres by 6:00 p.m., according to Cal Fire. The blaze prompted the closure of Highway 138 between Lancaster Road and 120th Street West and led to evacuation warnings for Zone LAC-E1641. Firefighters managed to halt the fire's forward progress by 6:00 p.m., achieving 60% containment. Smoke from a large burning mulch pile within the fire perimeter continues to pose challenges.
