Atlanta Police End Search for Gunman After Southwest Atlanta Shooting Incident
Atlanta police have concluded their search for a gunman in southwest Atlanta following an incident where a rifle was fired at a car carrying four individuals. The shooting occurred just before 4 a.m. in the 1300 block of Hartford Avenue. An argument reportedly preceded the gunman opening fire, though no injuries were reported. Authorities established a command post on Sylvan Road and deployed a SWAT team, believing the suspect might be inside a nearby home. Multiple roads in the area were blocked during the hours-long response. The search concluded around 9:30 a.m. after officers determined the gunman was not present in the suspected residence. The suspect remains at large and is wanted on charges of aggravated assault and reckless conduct, in addition to an existing warrant for a parole violation. Sylvan Hills Middle School, located nearby, maintained normal operations, with officers on standby to assist students if necessary.
