Family Demands Answers After Security Officer Kenneth Williams Fatally Shot by Law Enforcement in Gary
Kenneth Williams, a 67-year-old security officer in Gary, Indiana, was fatally shot by law enforcement officers on August 28. The incident occurred after six Gary police officers and three Lake County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an armed security officer exhibiting 'unusual and erratic behavior.' According to the Indiana State Police (ISP), officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, but a confrontation ensued, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. His family is seeking answers regarding the circumstances of his death, with his son, Kenneth Williams Jr., expressing anger over the police handling of the situation and questioning the necessity of the use of lethal force, especially given reports of up to 100 rounds being fired.
