Metro Atlanta's Urban Wildlife Program Addresses Human-Wildlife Conflicts
The Urban Wildlife Program in metro Atlanta is actively working to help residents manage and prevent conflicts with local wildlife. This initiative focuses on providing technical guidance, on-site responses, and educational outreach to communities across nine core counties: Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale. As urban and suburban areas expand, human-wildlife interactions become more frequent, necessitating programs that promote coexistence. The program aims to educate the public on how to prevent conflicts before they arise and to foster an appreciation for wildlife conservation within backyards and developed areas. This includes offering advice on specific wildlife issues and conducting outreach programs to inform residents about urban wildlife behavior and management strategies.
