Elderly Driver Hospitalized After Collision on South US-131 in Grand Rapids Causes Traffic Delays
An 86-year-old man from Lowell, Michigan, was hospitalized after his pickup truck collided with a broken-down semi truck on south US-131 in Grand Rapids. The incident occurred early Thursday morning, just after the Martin Luther King Jr. Street entrance ramp. According to Michigan State Police troopers, the semi truck, driven by a 35-year-old man from Montague, had broken down and was partially blocking the right lane of traffic. The elderly driver, who crashed into the back of the semi, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. The semi truck driver was unharmed. The crash resulted in significant traffic backups, with the middle and right lanes closed, while the left lane remained open. Drivers in the area were advised to find alternate routes to avoid delays.
