BAE Systems Secures $16 Million Contract to Enhance U.S. Navy Carrier Landing System Against GPS Jamming
BAE Systems has been awarded a $16 million contract by Collins Aerospace to develop an encrypted M-Code GPS solution for the U.S. Navy’s Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS). This upgrade aims to bolster the resilience of the carrier landing system against GPS jamming and spoofing during critical aircraft recoveries. The new solution will integrate the DIGAR-500M Digital GPS Anti-Jam Receiver, which is designed to support both existing Selective Availability Anti Spoofing Module (SAASM) receivers and the more secure M-Code operations. M-Code is the U.S. military's encrypted GPS signal, specifically developed to enhance security and anti-jamming capabilities. The work will ensure that JPALS, which guides aircraft onto Navy carriers in all weather conditions, remains effective against evolving threats. Molly O’Brien, BAE Systems’ program manager for Airborne GPS, emphasized that this award is a significant step in modernizing JPALS, ensuring warfighters maintain a decisive operational advantag...
