In the final days leading up to the Michigan US Senate primary election, Rep. Haley Stevens has faced scrutiny over the significant financial backing her campaign has received from super PACs. Stevens, who is supported by several Democratic establishment figures, has dismissed concerns about campaign finance as an 'educated issue' that does not resonate with working families. Her opponent, Abdul El-Sayed, has made campaign finance a central issue, criticizing the influence of super PACs, particularly those affiliated with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which have contributed significantly to Stevens' campaign. Stevens has attempted to shift the focus to other issues such as affordable daycare and public schools, while also addressing questions about her campaign's financial support from groups linked to the healthcare industry.
