GoFundMe Launched for Family of Engineer Killed in Maryland Crash
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the family of Dr. William Vance Payne II, a mechanical engineer who was killed in a car crash in Montgomery County, Maryland. Payne was on his way to work when a stolen Kia Optima, driven by a 13-year-old boy, collided with his vehicle. The crash involved seven juveniles and resulted in Payne's death. Payne, who worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for 29 years, is remembered for his contributions to making residential heating and cooling systems more efficient. The fundraiser has raised over $66,000 to support his wife and five children.
