22 Arrested During 'Christian Crusader March' Protest Outside Dearborn City Council Meeting
Twenty-two individuals were arrested during a protest, dubbed the 'Christian Crusader March,' held outside the Henry Ford Centennial Library in Dearborn, Michigan, where a City Council meeting was taking place. Hundreds of people gathered throughout the day on August 18. As the meeting approached, riot police intervened to manage the crowd, which included conservative activist Jake Lang and Detroit pastor Lorenzo Sewell among the organizers. Police limited entry into the library, while a group of protesters remained outside. The arrests were for various misdemeanor charges, including breach of peace and disorderly conduct. Those arrested ranged in age from 18 to 64 and came from across Michigan, as well as from New York and Tennessee. Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin stated that officers maintained public safety and protected First Amendment rights while allowing the City Council to conduct its business.
