Detroit Nurse Faces Charges for Alleged Theft of Controlled Substances from Patient
Maniya Miller, a 26-year-old licensed practical nurse from Detroit, has been arraigned on charges of stealing controlled substances from a nursing home patient and falsifying medical records. The charges, which include larceny in a building, falsifying medical records, and illegal possession of a controlled substance, each carry a maximum penalty of four years in prison. The allegations date back to an incident in 2024 at a Centerline nursing home. Following the emergence of these allegations, Miller was terminated from her position, and the facility reported the incident to law enforcement and the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Miller has been released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond and is scheduled for a probable cause conference on August 19.
