Father Stabs Aggressive Dog to Protect Newborn in Coos Bay Incident
In Coos Bay, Oregon, a father carrying his 9-day-old infant was compelled to stab an aggressive dog to protect his family during an incident at a downtown farmers market. The Coos Bay Police Department reported that the event occurred on August 12, when a couple, walking their leashed dog and holding their newborn, encountered an unattended dog roaming freely. The dog, whose leash was either broken or improperly secured, became aggressive towards the family's dog. When the father attempted to separate the animals, the aggressive dog turned its attention towards him and his infant, prompting him to use a knife to defend his family. Bystanders reportedly confronted the couple, with some attempting to block their car as they called 911. The couple managed to leave the scene and went directly to the police department to cooperate with the investigation.
