Macomb Intermediate School District Opens New $70 Million Special Needs Education Center in Sterling Heights
The Macomb Intermediate School District has inaugurated a new $70 million facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan, dedicated to serving students with special needs. Named the Donald Bollinger Education Center, the 140,000-square-foot building is set to welcome its first students after Labor Day. This state-of-the-art center will cater to approximately 250 students, ranging from infants to individuals up to 26 years old. The facility boasts a range of specialized amenities, including a pool, a greenhouse, various therapy rooms, and accommodations designed to teach life skills. The funding for this significant project was secured through a 2022 school district bond proposal, reflecting a long-term investment in the community's educational infrastructure.
