Lavonia Man Dies in Rear-End Collision on GA 365, Disrupting School Traffic
James Johnson, a resident of Lavonia, Georgia, was killed in a rear-end collision on GA 365 in Demorest. The incident occurred when Johnson, driving a Honda Accord northbound in the right lane, failed to stop for an Isuzu FTR box truck that was halted at a red light at Demorest-Mt. Airy Highway. His vehicle struck the rear of the truck and went underneath it, resulting in his death at the scene. The driver of the box truck was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville; their condition has not been released. The crash, which happened around 6:45 a.m. on the first day of Labor Day weekend travel, initially caused significant traffic disruptions.
