Gordie Howe Bridge Opens, Strengthening U.S.-Canada Trade Links
The Gordie Howe International Bridge, connecting Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan, officially opened to commercial trucks and personal vehicles. Named after the legendary hockey player, the bridge aims to enhance trade and travel between the U.S. and Canada. Gordie Howe's family was invited to be the first to cross the bridge, marking a significant milestone. The bridge features six traffic lanes and 16 toll lanes, providing a direct connection between Ontario's Highway 401 and Michigan's Interstate-75. The opening ceremony included participation from U.S. and Canadian officials, highlighting the bridge's role in strengthening economic ties.
