Bihar Police Officer Suspended for Brandishing Pistol During Flood Relief Distribution
The station house officer of Maker Police Station in Bihar's Saran district, Sangram Kumar Singh, has been suspended. The suspension follows the circulation of a video on social media allegedly showing Singh brandishing a pistol at people affected by floods during a relief material distribution event. The Saran SSP's office stated that the incident prima facie amounted to "gross negligence of duty, indiscipline and arbitrariness." Singh will receive a subsistence allowance during his suspension. The flooding, caused by heavy rainfall in Nepal and adjoining areas, has impacted nearly 9.87 lakh people across 169 gram panchayats in 30 blocks spread over six districts of Bihar.
