Former UAW Presidents Endorse Challengers, Criticize Current Leadership
Three former United Auto Workers (UAW) presidents, Ray Curry, Rory Gamble, and Ron Gettelfinger, have publicly endorsed several candidates challenging current President Shawn Fain in the upcoming union election. The endorsement includes Tricia Geiger for president, Margaret Mock for secretary-treasurer, and Kisha Richardson, Matt Slade, and Tony Totty for vice president positions. The former leaders criticized Fain's administration for hiring outsiders without union backgrounds, terminating administrative staff without explanation, and maintaining dues at the same level despite expectations for a reduction. The endorsement highlights internal rifts within the union, which has been under federal oversight due to past corruption scandals.
