Michigan UIA Expands Services with Community Ambassadors Program and Walk-in Appointments
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) has announced new initiatives aimed at improving access to unemployment services across the state. UIA Director Jason Palmer unveiled the Community Ambassadors Program, which will deploy eight ambassadors to various regions in Michigan to provide direct support in local communities. Additionally, for the first time since the pandemic, all 12 UIA Local Offices statewide will now accept walk-in appointments for individuals seeking assistance with unemployment benefits or existing claims. The agency also plans to enable claimants to complete work registration entirely online, eliminating the need for in-person verification of job-seeker profiles.
