House Intelligence Panel Urges Completion of Biometric Entry-Exit System for Foreign Nationals
A bipartisan review by the House Intelligence Committee has called for the United States to finalize its biometric entry and exit screening system for foreign nationals. This recommendation stems from a year-long assessment of national security changes implemented since the 9/11 Commission report. The committee identified uneven coverage at seaports, vehicle crossings, and land exits as an unfulfilled recommendation from the 2004 commission. The report proposes 20 actions to be completed before the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, with the biometric system being a key focus. Currently, biometric collection for air entry, sea entry, and pedestrian land entry is considered complete, while air exit is nearly complete.
