Imperial County Opens New Northend Center in Calipatria to Enhance Public Access to Services
Imperial County has officially opened its new Northend Center in Calipatria, located at 190 E. Main St. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on September 30, marking the establishment of a facility designed to strengthen the county's presence in the northern Imperial Valley. The center aims to provide residents with easier access to various county programs and services. The facility's theme, 'Growing our Future,' is reflected in its exterior artwork and the rotating departmental connections it will offer. County officials, including representatives from Senator Steve Padilla’s and Congressman Raul Ruiz’s offices, Assemblyman Jeff Gonzalez, Calipatria Mayor Michael Luellen, and county Chairwoman Peggy Price, attended the ceremony. Mayor Luellen emphasized that the center represents more than just a new building; it signifies increased access to essential resources for residents in Calipatria, Brawley, Westmorland, Bombay Beach, and Slab City, eliminating the need for long commutes to El Centro.
