Marion County Hospital District Launches Diabetes Self-Management Classes to Empower Patients
The Marion County Hospital District's Community Home Project is set to launch a free, eight-week Diabetes Self-Management Series starting August 6, 2026. The classes will be held at the Howard Academy Community Center in Ocala, Florida, and are open to individuals aged 18 and older who are prediabetic, diabetic, or supporting someone with diabetes. Participants will engage in the Diabetes Education Empowerment Program (DEEP), which aims to enhance diabetes self-care. The curriculum covers improving eating habits, increasing physical activity, monitoring health metrics, and preventing diabetes-related complications. This initiative is part of the Marion County Hospital District's mission to improve health outcomes and quality of life for local residents through education and accessible resources.
