FDA Expands Frozen Berry Recall Due to E. coli Contamination Concerns
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has expanded a recall of frozen berries due to potential E. coli contamination. Initially, the recall in July involved GreenWise brand organic blueberries distributed to certain Publix locations by Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. The expanded recall, announced on September 3, now includes additional products sold in select Walmart stores across 16 states. The newly added product is the Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend, which contains strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries. Consumers are advised to check their freezers for specific product details, including package size (10 oz), UPC (7874211226), Lot Code (6040 01-6), and a 'Best If Used By Date' of February 9, 2028. The affected states for the Walmart distribution include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin.
