Humane Society of Catawba County Announces Dog and Cat Adoption Fee Structure
The Humane Society of Catawba County, a no-kill shelter, has detailed its adoption fee structure for dogs and cats. These fees are designed to cover the veterinary care each animal receives before adoption, including spay/neuter surgery, initial vaccinations (such as Bordetella for dogs), rabies vaccination, deworming medication, a microchip, and a complimentary health exam from participating veterinary offices. Dog and puppy adoption fees vary by age, ranging from $240 for those 8 to 12 weeks old, down to $60 for dogs 7 years and older. Similarly, cat and kitten adoption fees are structured by age, with kittens under 6 months costing $125 and cats 7 years and older costing $35. The shelter emphasizes its commitment to caring for animals until they find suitable homes, noting that pets come from various backgrounds, including strays and those whose families could no longer care for them.
