Heavy Rain and Lightning Expected Across Georgia Today
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for north and central Georgia on Friday, August 28, 2026. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are anticipated this afternoon, with the highest concentration expected along and south of the I-85 corridor. Some storms may become strong to severe, bringing damaging wind gusts, heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, and localized flooding. Early morning patchy fog is also possible, particularly in low-lying areas. The outlook extends into the weekend, with additional storms expected and isolated afternoon thunderstorms forecasted through Thursday.
