Former Mills Treasurer Disputes Mayor's Claims Following $150,000 Settlement in Breach of Contract Lawsuit
Alyssa Hartmann, the former treasurer for the City of Mills, Wyoming, has publicly disputed Mayor Leah Juarez's statements regarding her job performance. This dispute follows a 2024 incident where Hartmann was reassigned from her contracted position, leading to her departure from city employment and a subsequent breach of contract lawsuit. In June, the city agreed to a $150,000 settlement with Hartmann. Mayor Juarez had previously told Oil City News that Hartmann's reassignment was due to alleged errors that cost the city at least $75,000 over several years. However, Hartmann's attorney, Keith Nachbar, stated that these claims are inaccurate and misleading, asserting that financial issues predated Hartmann's employment and that her role involved identifying and correcting these existing problems. Nachbar highlighted Hartmann's professional record, including three promotions, seven wage increases, and a nomination for the Wyoming Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers, as evidence of her competence.
