Aspen/Pitkin County Airport Secures $37 Million FAA Grant for Runway Reconstruction
The Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE) has been awarded a $37 million Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This funding is specifically designated for construction related to the airport's runway reconstruction and relocation project. This grant marks the largest single FAA grant ASE has received to date and is a significant step in the funding plan for the 2027 runway project. The overall runway and airfield program is budgeted at approximately $269 million, with ASE anticipating over $213 million in federal funding for eligible costs throughout the project's lifespan.
