CommonSpirit Awards $20,000 in Grants to Lexington Schools for Art and Kindness Projects
CommonSpirit – Kentucky has allocated $20,000 in grants to art teachers across 12 elementary schools in Lexington. These funds are part of CommonSpirit’s 2026 Art of Humankindness Initiative, which aims to foster kindness, empathy, and friendship among students through creative projects. The initiative supports efforts to prevent violence and enhance student well-being by encouraging positive social interactions. The grants will enable participating Fayette County Public Schools art teachers to develop projects designed to create a lasting impact within their schools. Previous projects funded by this initiative have included murals, photography, chalk art, and various school-wide activities. The grants were officially announced during a ceremony attended by health system executives, program leaders, community partners, and the art teachers involved. A ceremonial check was presented to the Fayette Education Foundation and the teachers leading projects at the selected schools.
