Springfield Police Confiscate Illegal Off-Highway Vehicles from Minors, Intensifying Enforcement Efforts
Springfield, Massachusetts police have confiscated several illegal off-highway vehicles (OHVs) from minors following recent enforcement details aimed at curbing dangerous street riding. According to the Springfield Police Department, officers conducted operations on October 1st and 3rd, seizing a dirt bike, a quad, a tank motorcycle, and a scooter. Two minors were arrested in connection with reckless driving incidents. One incident involved a 16-year-old boy operating a 'tank motorcycle' without a helmet or license plate, who was arrested after attempting to evade a traffic stop. Another incident saw a 15-year-old boy issued a criminal complaint for performing wheelies on a high-powered scooter and refusing to stop for officers. Additionally, a 14-year-old boy received a citation and had his quad seized after being observed operating it on Girard Avenue. These actions are part of ongoing efforts, which have resulted in the seizure of 145 OHVs and illegal motorcycles by the Springfield Police Department.
