Missouri State University Enrollment Dips Slightly Amidst Continued Growth Plan
Missouri State University experienced a 1.1% decrease in systemwide enrollment this fall compared to the previous year's record levels. The university reported a total headcount of 26,917 students, with 25,039 attending the Springfield campus and 1,878 at the West Plains campus. Despite this slight dip, university leaders, including President Richard B. Williams, affirmed their commitment to a strategic plan aimed at reaching 30,000 students by 2030. The university is focusing on attracting a diverse student body, including first-time freshmen, transfer students, and adult learners. Undergraduate enrollment on the Springfield campus saw a 0.9% decline, while graduate enrollment decreased by 3.4%. However, the university enrolled 2,506 first-time students this fall, and their retention rate improved to 76.9%.
