Pasadena Residents Outraged After Mail Carrier Attacks Peacock, USPS Investigates
Neighbors in Pasadena, California, are expressing outrage after a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier was captured on video attacking a peacock known as 'Sugar.' The incident, which occurred on Mohawk Street, reportedly involved the mail carrier throwing liquid and a rock at the bird, and then hitting it with a stick or club. Residents, including Gina Davis and Adela Gaytan, described Sugar as a well-known white peacock in the neighborhood, acknowledged to be aggressive at times. The video shows Sugar collapsing after being hit, appearing injured and disoriented, with one eye swollen. The mail carrier then drove away, leaving the bird in the street. The Pasadena Humane Society is currently investigating the incident and evaluating Sugar for injuries. The U.S. Postal Service has confirmed that several employees have had previous encounters with peacocks in the area and is investigating the video-recorded attack.
