Redwood City Restaurant Experiences Sales Decline Amid Immigration Enforcement Fears
Ever González, owner of Maizz restaurant in Redwood City, California, has reported a significant drop in sales over recent days. This decline is attributed to widespread fear within the Latino community regarding increased immigration enforcement operations in other parts of the state. González noted that the entire city has experienced a noticeable quietness, which he suspects is directly linked to the current political climate surrounding immigration. To counteract this trend and boost his business, González organized an event on a recent Saturday afternoon to promote his traditional Mexican food. He also mentioned that the restaurant was already facing difficulties staying afloat due to operational costs since its official opening a year and a half ago, with inflation and the broader economy adding to his concerns. The restaurant is located on El Camino Real in Redwood City, an area known as 'Little Michoacán'.
