Archdiocese of Baltimore Experiences Significant Surge in Seminarian Vocations
The Archdiocese of Baltimore is witnessing a notable increase in vocations to the priesthood, with 66 seminarians currently in formation. This surge is expected to culminate in the ordination of 12 new priests in a single year, a number not seen in over half a century. Fourteen new men entered formation this year alone, ranging in age from 17 to 36 and representing 14 different parishes. Archbishop William E. Lori, who has led the archdiocese for 14 years, attributes this growth to prayer, intentional vocational outreach, and strong parish support. The influx has filled both of the archdiocese’s propaedeutic houses to capacity, with three new seminarians spending their foundational year at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
