Canandaigua Unveils New Public Sculpture 'From Where We Land' in Gibson Street Park
Canandaigua has unveiled a new public sculpture titled 'From Where We Land' in Gibson Street Park. The more than 8-foot high sculpture was created by Finger Lakes Community College associate professor Barron Naegel, with assistance from Joshua Long. The artwork was installed last month but was kept under wraps until its official reveal on September 13. Canandaigua City Council had previously accepted the donation of the sculpture earlier in the year. This new addition contributes to the city's extensive public art collection, which is spearheaded by the Ontario County Arts Council. The collection already includes notable pieces such as the Haudenosaunee, or Seneca, Family Statue and several murals throughout the city, as well as the recent Ghost of Roseland sculpture on Canandaigua Lake.
