Pastor Brian Carn Begins Prison Term for Tax Evasion
Pastor and self-described prophet Brian Carn, known for his appearances on Christian television networks such as TBN, Daystar, and The Word Network, has begun a nine-month prison sentence for tax evasion. Online records confirm that Carn, 37, is currently an inmate at FCI Bennettsville, a medium-security federal prison in Bennettsville, South Carolina. Carn pleaded guilty to obstructing efforts by the IRS to collect tax debts, with his actions costing the government between $550,000 and $1.5 million. The IRS began its collection efforts in 2016 after Carn's 2015 tax return showed he earned over $1.4 million but failed to pay more than $600,000 in taxes. He subsequently hired a new accountant and provided a backdated employment agreement falsely stating he earned only $120,000 in 2015. Carn continued to underreport his income for several years and stopped filing tax returns altogether in 2020, making false representations and omissions to conceal his assets and income.
