Flash Flood Warning Issued for Kane County Amid Severe Storms in Utah
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Flash Flood Warning for southwestern Kane County, Utah, on Sunday afternoon. Radar data indicated that between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain had already fallen in the area. The warning, issued at 1:12 p.m., highlighted the potential for life-threatening flash flooding through 4:15 p.m. Additional warnings were issued for Garfield, San Juan, Emery, and Wayne counties, with flash flooding expected in areas such as Johnson Lakes Canyon, Harris Wash, and the Escalante River. Severe thunderstorm warnings were also in effect for Millard and Sevier counties, with wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail reported. Heavy rains on Saturday caused severe flooding in towns like Orangeville and Lynndyl, leading to evacuations and property damage.
