Monroe Community College Secures $850,000 Federal Funding for Optics Lab Expansion
Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York, has been awarded $850,000 in federal funding to establish a Precision Optics Finishing Lab. This initiative, announced by Congressman Joe Morelle, aims to enhance workforce training in optics and advanced manufacturing. The lab will be part of the college's Advanced Technology Education Center, providing students and workers with hands-on experience using industry-standard equipment. This investment is intended to maintain Rochester's leadership in optics and photonics, fields in which the region has a long-standing reputation.
