Prominent Democratic Donor Bonnie Lautenberg Fundraises for NY GOP Governor Candidate Bruce Blakeman
Bonnie Englebardt Lautenberg, a prominent Democratic donor and the wife of the late New Jersey Democratic Senator Frank Lautenberg, is reportedly fundraising for Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman in New York. This development has surprised many in political circles, as Lautenberg has a history of donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democratic causes and candidates over the past decade, including Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, and Long Island Rep. Laura Gillen, as well as various Democratic Party state committees. Lautenberg confirmed she is holding a fundraiser for Blakeman, citing a long-standing friendship and neighborly relationship with him. She had previously donated $1,000 to Democratic incumbent Governor Kathy Hochul's re-election campaign in July 2025.
