Habitual Criminal Sentenced to Over 12 Years for Safeway Thefts
James Padgett, a repeat offender, has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison after being convicted of Grand Larceny for thefts at a Safeway store in Sparks. Padgett, 54, was identified by the store's loss prevention staff after stealing from the location six times over six months, totaling at least $1,825. Despite ongoing investigations, he continued to commit thefts until his arrest during a traffic stop in July. Padgett's criminal history includes 26 misdemeanor convictions, 2 gross misdemeanors, and 6 felonies, leading to his classification as a habitual criminal.
