Natchez Trace Parkway Undergoes Major Rehabilitation, Affecting Travel Routes
A 24-mile section of the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi is closing as part of a significant road rehabilitation project, according to the National Park Service. The project, which is in its second phase, involves full-depth roadway reconstruction, bridge repairs, drainage improvements, and paving. The section between milepost 135 and milepost 159.5 will be closed, with a detour route provided via State Highways 16, 25, and 19. The construction is expected to continue through 2026, with completion anticipated by mid-2027. This project is part of a $150 million effort to modernize 83 miles of the parkway, aiming to reduce future maintenance needs and enhance safety.
