Retired Firefighter Wade Peck Helps Contain Farmington Car Fire Before Crews Arrive
In Farmington, New York, a retired firefighter, Wade Peck, played a crucial role in preventing a car fire from extensively damaging a home on Meadowbrook Lane. On Monday evening, a vehicle parked in front of an attached garage caught fire, which then began to spread to the house. Peck, who was driving by shortly after the vehicle started smoking, quickly intervened. He utilized a garden hose from the residence to slow the fire's progression until local fire departments, including Victor and Farmington firefighters, arrived on the scene. Thanks to his swift actions, the damage was contained primarily to the exterior of the home. An adult, a juvenile, and a dog who were inside the house at the time safely escaped, and no injuries were reported. The Ontario County Sheriff's Office and county fire investigators are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
