Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and other friends spoke about Tyner's dedication to public service and his commitment to the community. Tyner served seven consecutive terms on the Tuscaloosa City Council and two terms as city council president. In the coming weeks, the Tuscaloosa City Council plans to rename Alberta Park to Kip Tyner Plaza and 26th Avenue East to Kip Tyner Parkway in his honor.
