Severe Weather with Damaging Winds and Tornado Risk in Western New York
Western New York and the Finger Lakes are under threat of severe weather through Wednesday night. The National Weather Service has warned of multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms, with the greatest risk for severe weather expected on Wednesday afternoon and evening. A lingering frontal zone across the Great Lakes is driving this unsettled weather pattern, bringing warm and humid conditions along with the storms. While Tuesday may see isolated thunderstorms, widespread severe weather is not anticipated until Wednesday. Localised damaging wind gusts, large hail, and isolated tornadoes are possible, along with torrential downpours that could lead to flash flooding in some areas.
